UK ICS DEAL!
ICS deal with the Devil?
or good for UK Airsoft?


By now you’re sure to have seen the news that FireSupport are the sole ICS distributor for Britain and Northern Ireland! Is this good or bad news for UK Airsofters, and what will it mean?

ICS have always had a good reputation in the market for supplying great mid-range AEG’s and accessories. Will this new move by them make sense? From their point of view dealing with ONE main UK distributor makes the logistics and dealings from a business pov much simpler and other UK retailers don’t have to worry about shipping, lead times, customs/duty etc.

Having a SINGLE POINT of contact can have so many benefits for consumers, like product support, repairs, not to mention a consistent level of service. That’s the least we should expect from this major ICS deal.
HOWEVER why do I bristle at this news when I hear it? (and maybe you should to?):

• Firesupport will CONTROL ICS products in the entire UK market space – controlling release, price and parts supply.
• Being a retailer themselves they will be in a position to dictate other retailer’s prices and offer the cheapest prices themselves. This effectively controls the market and the price point so reducing potential competitive pricing policies & competition.
• Less choice in your local/favourite airsoft shop! – Remember a single point of contact (Firesupport) can also be a potential single point of failure as well!
• Grey imports may increase, with potentially unsupported or not to UK spec products entering the market place.
• This potentially leaves us at the mercy of a single retailer for ICS products unless we resort to grey imports or foreign websites.

I cannot help but feel that ICS have dropped a major clanger in the UK market place on this deal and will turn many people away from their otherwise great range of products – I do hope ICS have a major rethink on this – if they wanted a single point of contact in the UK they could have chosen a much better retailer to go for!

Time will no doubt tell on this issue! What are your thoughts on the issue?

MORE EXCLUSIVE INTEL
ICS Universal Drum Mag goes into Production

Anyone remember the announcement from ICS at Shot Show 2012 regarding their universal ‘C-Type’ drum magazine? No, not surprising as it all seemed to go under the radar and quiet from ICS on that front.

But behind the scenes, quietly and surely the project has been progressing and they are promising to bring us a great product and Airsoft Odyssey has secured some great ‘SPY’ pictures from the other side of the world on what will prove a most popular product no doubt!

What makes this drum magazine different from others on the market will be the availability of adapters for various gun types, so those of us with M4’s, Sig’s, G36’s and MP5’s should be able to run this nylon fibre constructed, 3500 round drum magazine with little trouble by just getting the appropriate adaptor for our AEG’s.

This is great news and a good example of clear thinking in the market place for ICS – and of course for airsofters if you change your gun you don’t have to go out and purchase another drum mag, just a new adaptor. Personally I’m looking forward to trying it out on my ICS SIG552 which has been crying out for one since the beginning!

Check out some of the ‘spy pictures’ below – please note that the prototype features a clear BB level indicator which I’m told will not be on the finished version – production starts soon but no further news on a possible release date – but may be on or near the same production schedule as the forthcoming G33 (news on that HERE).

EXCLUSIVE INTEL
ICS G33

As most avid airsofters will be aware ICS are launching their G33 AEG soon and Airsoft Odyssey has managed to get access to some early INTEL & pictures on the G33.

Strangely different yet familiar to the G36 it appears ICS are going down the same line of its successful MX5 series producing a familiar look and feel without infringing and hopefully avoiding any clashes on copyright and designs, which other license holders may get litigious over otherwise.

Note the use in the pictures of the Standard M4 magazine and the ICS T4 Tactical mags, plus skinner handguards and the ICS folding stock, like that introduced on their MX5 range, the battery fitment is also in the handguard for the G33. The AEG will utilise a Ver3 gear box plus the G33 is equipped with one piece Hop-up chamber, 16 AWG wires & ATM fuse, turbo-3000 motor(high- torsion).


Versions available at launch will be:
Tan and of course in ubiquitous Black and keep an eye out later for one in FDE - Flat Dark Earth

ICS Relaunch the CXP GLM Series As the ICSMGL-Series


ICS has scooped the MILKOR Brand so can now official brand its Multiple Grenade Launcher as the MGL-Series.


Its exciting times ahead for ICS as they promise more to co-operation with MILKOR so hopefully more products down the line.
